What it is
A six-concert festival running since its first season in 2004, presented in St Mary Magdalene Anglican Church on Picton's Main Street.
The first weekend is the standard repertoire, Bach through Beethoven, Dvorak and Rachmaninov, played by established Canadian ensembles.
The second weekend, the one in October, branches into contemporary writing. It is the cheaper pass of the two to buy on its own at $165.
Good to know
- The October weekend closes on Sunday 4 October, the same day as the County Marathon. The race finishes at the Crystal Palace, a few hundred metres from the church, so allow extra time to park in Picton that morning.
- Passes are sold through Zeffy, which takes no commission, so the price you see is what the festival receives.
- Picton's tasting rooms and restaurants are within walking distance of the church, which makes an afternoon concert easy to build a day around.
Fitting it round a tasting day
An October concert weekend pairs naturally with the Picton end of the wine route, where you can walk between tastings and be back at the church for the evening.
