Base31

A wartime airbase turned cultural campus: concerts in the Drill Hall, art in the hangars, free open-mic and brunch sessions, and a Lancaster bomber in the exhibition hall.

What it is

Seventy acres of reimagined hangars and drill halls on the edge of Picton, programming live music, exhibitions, public art, food, wellness and seasonal festivals.

The Drill Hall RBC Stage is the main concert space; The Commissary hosts free casual programming including open-mic nights, Friday porch sessions and Sunday brunch music.

The Exhibition Hall holds a Lancaster Bomber exhibit and a self-guided audio tour of the 70-acre site.

Good to know

  • The Exhibition Hall is closed Mondays and Tuesdays, a real trap if you are visiting early in the week.
  • Entry to the Lancaster exhibit is free for veterans, serving military and children under five.
  • Programming is published a season at a time; check the calendar close to your visit rather than months ahead.
