How to brief a custom guide (so the day is great)
- Lead with styles, not names. "Skin-contact whites and traditional-method sparkling" gets you a better day than a list of famous wineries you saw on Instagram.
- Declare the non-negotiables. A real lunch? Dog along? One bottle-shopping stop? Say so upfront — the County can accommodate almost anything if the route knows about it.
- Cap it at four tastings. Every good guide will tell you the same: three or four stops with room to linger beats six at a jog.
- Ask for one wildcard. The best custom-tour moment is the stop you'd never have found — a farm-gate Chardonnay, a six-acre family vineyard, a winery that makes its own sheep cheese.
