What the cards are actually telling you
- Nothing here is invented. A winery only gets a card for a thing it publishes about itself: a patio, a dog welcome, food on site, a gallery, cheese made in the same building, a tour of the cellar, bubbles as a speciality, a walk-in policy, a view, or vegan certification.
- The suits are the ten real dividing lines. They are the same features the directory filters on, so a hand you deal here can be rebuilt by hand in about a minute.
- The route is driving order, not pick order. Once you have five, they get resorted west to east and joined up the way you would actually drive them, starting from whichever is furthest west.
- Five tastings is a full day. At 45 minutes a room plus the driving, that is most of the daylight. If everyone is tasting, put a driver in front.
